​​​Now Taking Applications: Mid-Year Intake – Certificate II in Plumbing Services

The Sunshine Coast Technical Trade Training Centre (SCTTTC) is excited to announce a mid-year enrolment opportunity for Term 3, 2025, for students interested in pursuing a career in the plumbing industry.

We are now accepting applications for the Certificate II in Plumbing Services (11054NAT) – a nationally recognised pre-apprenticeship program designed for students in Year 10 or 11 who are passionate about starting a trade pathway.

🔧 Course Overview

Delivered by the Australian Trade Training College, this hands-on course offers students the chance to gain industry-relevant skills and experience in plumbing, including:

  • Use of plumbing hand and power tools
  • Basic welding and sheet metal work
  • Plan reading and levelling
  • Safe working practices, including working at heights and on roofs
  • Completion of a White Card (construction safety) and First Aid certification
All units of competency completed in this course are designed to transition directly into a Certificate III in Plumbing (Apprenticeship), offering a strong head start in the plumbing trade.

📅 Key Course Details

  • Qualification: Certificate II in Plumbing Services (11054NAT)
  • Duration: 5 school terms – anticipated completion end of Term 3, 2026
  • Delivery Day: Tuesdays only (no alternate days available)
  • Start Date: Tuesday, 15 July 2025 (Week 1, Term 3)
  • Location: Sunshine Coast Technical Trade Training Centre (SCTTTC)
  • Work Placement: Includes 80 hours of structured industry work placement
  • QCE Points: Up to 4 QCE credits on successful completion

📌 Application Process & Key Dates

  • Applications close COB Friday 23 May 2025
  • Student interviews will be conducted Tuesday 27 May – Friday 6 June 2025
  • Offers of placement will be issued in Week 7, subject to minimum enrolments
  • Final enrolment documents due in Week 8
​Please note: A minimum number of enrolments is required for the course to proceed. There is a maximum of 16 places available.

💰 Course Fees & Requirements

  • State School Students: Approx. $599
  • Non-State School Students: Approx. $949
(Fees include SCTTTC uniform and required PPE)

Students will also need to provide:
  • ​Steel capped safety boots
  • A BYO laptop suitable for training use

🎯 Who Should Apply?

This mid-year intake is ideally suited for Year 10 or 11 students who are committed to completing the full five-term course and are considering a career in plumbing. The course provides a strong foundation in plumbing services, offering valuable skills and nationally recognised competencies to support a successful transition into a trade apprenticeship.

Interested students must complete the SCTTTC Student Application Form​, including school endorsement, and return it along with the required documentation by Friday 23 May 2025. Unfortunately, late applications cannot be accepted due to strict enrolment deadlines.
